In module (Course UW 100) 1 the student will be introduced to CBT, at the heart of which is the ABC model. They will also study the triadic structure, the role of automatic thoughts and beliefs, and the need to challenge erroneous thought patterns through applying CBT techniques and strategies. The course demonstrates how CBT can be used to effectively work with issues of depression, anxiety, fears, phobias and anger.

In module 2 (UW 101) work will build on module 1 to further enhance skills. Emphasis is on the development of self-awareness and critical reflections and knowledge of CBT. Working with beginnings, middles and endings as a therapeutic process is investigated within the context of working with clients.
