Benefits of Membership

The Institute of Counselling has a long established history for quality and excellence in the counselling field. it has an international reputation for providing quality courses and educational programmes. many members have benefited from our vocational and professional counselling courses and have enhanced their skills and career prospects. Full members are entitled to put MIOC (Member of the Institute of Counselling) after their name. Practitioner Members are entitled to put Pract.MIOC after their name.

Free Consultancy

Members are encouraged to take advantage of the free educational and counselling practice consultancy to discuss problems or issues by email, telephone or letter. 

Summer School Discounts
Guaranteed discounts of 10% on summer schools/residential courses (saving could be up to £40 per year). 

New Course Discounts
When new courses are offered a special discount will apply to members (up to 40% off). 

Extended Studies Savings
When adding an extra module to your studies, these will be at a discount (10% less)

Living Document
Members will receive the Institute journal, The Living Document. It is very important in various careers for job applicants to have published articles in a professional journal, and the Institute gives you that opportunity. it is also and excellent forum for discussion and debate on clinical and pastoral counselling issues.

CV Benefits
Members can enhance their CV by including under the heading 'Professional Membership' their class of membership with the Institute of Counselling.

Institute Newsletter
Members will regularly receive newsletters on topics of counselling interest. Members are invited to respond and some of these will be published in The Living Document.
