Course Content
Students will be introduced to CBT, at the heart of which is the ABC model. They will also study:
  • the triadic structure
  • the role of automatic thoughts
  • the beliefs
and the need to challenge erroneous thought patterns through applying CBT techniques and strategies. The course demonstrates how CBT can be used to effectively work with issues of depression, anxiety, fears and phobias, and anger.

10 Lessons and 4 tutor marked assignments are supplied in PDF and Word format, supplemented with suggested background reading.

Linkages to other courses
You may wish to consider building on your certificate by taking our second CBT module which emphasises self-awareness and critical reflection. Both modules make up the Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Course UD 1000.

Accredited or CPD
The Certificate in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is awarded by the Institute of Counselling. The module is credit rated with 20 credits at SCQF level 8 (2nd year BA/BSc).
