The course material is presented in a great and easy to understand way. The colourful pictures and diagrams enhance the course material. The content of the material was interessting and keeps one engaged without it being overwhelming, it is a great mix. It is great to have a tutor assigned to a student where one can get help and support and ask questions. I appreciated my tutor`s feedback on my assignments. And I particularly appreciated the clarifications regarding the TMA and the word count for each different section, and help to clarify the referencing system.

The course materials made sense and explained what was required throughout. My tutor (Marie Murphy) was really engaging throughout and very supportive when I asked questions and probed into next steps etc. If/when I sign up for my next course I would ask for Marie to be my tutor again.

this course was very beneficial in learning how CBT works and how i can implement this type of therapy into to my practice as a therapist. my tutor was very helpful in answering any questions i had and with honest feedback for my work. After doing this course i feel confident enough to carry out CBT therapy as part of my integrated work.

Initially I was not sure how useful an online course would be . I was living and working abroad at the time,so studying remotely was the only way of gaining a recognised qualification. I was pleasantly surprised at how interesting and challenging and informative the course was .

Quite a lot of the recommended websites were no longer in use. Being overseas access to English library facilities non existent, and so buying books to read proves expensive, and difficult to decide which would be the most useful, impossible to buy all that are recommended reading, obviously. I am pleased that I have been able to complete a counselling diploma whilst being in France, but can see why there are so few options to do these courses online. I feel that it is necessary to have class room sessions to discuss and work through subjects. Online studying of these subjects has its limits.

When I first received the coursework I wondered if I had bitten off more than I could chew! I read the information several times and each module was explained really well. Once I got into the course I really enjoyed it and found the experience really enjoyable. I'm an older student, being mid fifties, and I was a wee bit apprenhensive but everything you need is contained in the course material. Fantastic.

Just an observation - many of the final assignments had mixed up names of characters, giving, for example, an anecdote about 'John' and then asking how one would reply to 'Tony'. It just felt a little less professional....

Certificate in Christian Counselling
The Certificate in Christian Counselling has been a deeply enriching and formative experience. The course content was well-structured and thoughtfully integrated Christian principles with core counselling approaches like Carl Rogers’ person-centred model, Egan’s framework, and Gerkin’s pastoral method. Each assignment encouraged meaningful reflection and personal growth, and I felt the course struck a strong balance between theory and application. The distance learning format offered excellent flexibility, allowing me to engage with the material at my own pace while still feeling supported. Marie Murphy has been a consistently encouraging and insightful tutor. Her feedback was clear, constructive, and respectful, always delivered in a way that fostered confidence and deepened my understanding. I truly appreciated her presence throughout the course. One suggestion would be to include brief recorded introductions for each module or a short recommended reading list to support further learning. Overall, I’m very grateful for this experience and would gladly recommend it to others seeking a spiritually grounded approach to counselling.

I really appreciate the support and guidance Dr Marie Murphy has given me during my studies. I really appreciated her patience and kindness since English is not my first language. She was always there to help me with assignments and gave clear and thoughtful feedback, which made the learning process so much easier and more enjoyable. Her quick responses and support kept me focused and feeling confident during the course. I’m super grateful for her help and would definitely recommend her to anyone in need of a friendly and supportive tutor!
