There is an emphasis within this course on professional development and supervision. This course would introduce you to the attributes and techniques that would equip you to be an effective mentor.

This University credit rated programme of 4 counselling modules allows the student to build on the introductory module which brings an understanding and appreciation of counselling and current models, and then leads the student into the more specialist counselling modules covering Grief and Bereavement, Couples and Families and Crisis and Trauma. On completion the student will have gained 120 SCQF points at level 9 (third year BA/BSc.)

Coaching and Mentoring have been recognised as being beneficial for personal and professional development for some time. This Course explains across 2 independently credit rated modules how coaching and mentoring can be of benefit in helping people maximise their full potential. 

This course provides an excellent introduction to Counselling. It helps students understand the critical nature of core qualities and appreciation of the different counselling models - in particular the person centred model explained so well by Egan in his outstanding textbook "The Skilled Helper." It looks at employing key skills of problem management, and opportunity development. Building professional and ethical practice is at the heart of this course.  

The Professional Diploma in Cognitive Coaching and Mentoring course is designed to be both relevant and practical. It combines the best of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Coaching and Mentoring to offer you a unique in-depth cognitive approach to helping others.

This Course involves two modules that are credit rated independently with 20 credit points each at SCQF level 8 (2nd year BA/BSc). Module 1 introduces the student to Counselling and Module 2 extends the learning to include CBT techniques to employ with your client.

This University Credit Rated course may be taken as part of The Diploma in Clinical and Pastoral Counselling Skills course or as a specialist course for those with previous Counselling experience. It allows the Counsellor to examine more deeply the subject of Grief and Bereavement Counsellng and the techniques employed to help clients through issues related to bereavement and loss.
