Hi,
I am looking into training in coaching and mentoring, including CBT, and was wondering is this the best place to start? The accredited equivalent is noted as BA/BSC year two, and I have no former training or experience. This course is listed as more suitable for those who already have a degree, but seems to carry topics more relevant to actually working with people in this area. As it is unaccredited, is this a year 1 level course? or can you suggest one, please?
Yours faithfully,
Ben Meadon

The course is not more suited to those who already have a degree - its just that the academic points may not be as important if you already have a degree and do not wish to complete a second one.
The course 3200 that you are looking at contains 3 modules all written for Continuous Professional Development. Although not academically accredited they are written at first year degree level as are all of our CPD courses. Each module takes around 150 hours to complete (study/assesment work) and provide a solid knowledge and understanding of Coaching, Mentoring and CBT as well as the tools and techniques involved.
The accredited equivalent would be courses UE 1000 Diploma in Coaching and Mentoring which contains two modules of 200 hours each and UW 100 Certificate in CBT which also takes 200 hours to complete. The additional time is due mainly to the more rigourous assessment needed for the academic points awarded and the fact that it is written at level 8 (second year degree0
